Bags of Hope was founded in January 2016
and has been providing backpacks full of non-perishable food to students in the Bolingbrook, Joliet, Lockport, Minooka, Plainfield, and Romeoville communities ever since.
Located in Plainfield, Illinois, BoH hosts scores of volunteers as well as area civic organizations. In addition, BoH partners with schools in multiple districts throughout the area.

Bags of Hope is a non-profit organization with a mission to make sure each student enters school ready to learn. This means having breakfast!
Working directly with social workers from schools in Lockport and Plainfield, Bags of Hope provides backpacks of food for students to take home.
With the help of YOU, members of our community, we were able to donate not only breakfast food, but food that children and their families can enjoy throughout the day!

What is Bags Of Hope?
Bags of Hope is a non-profit weekly backpack program for the children of food insecure families. We are NOT a food pantry; rather, we are geared towards all children who need our services. Families sign up either through the sign up page on psd202.org website. We service Plainfield area schools including Lockport, Crest Hill, Romeoville, and others.
What is the goal of the program?
Studies have shown that students who come to school hungry cannot focus, have lower test scores, and have a lack of energy. We want to ensure that they have food on the weekends when free breakfast and lunch is not available to them.
How can I help?
To volunteer, you can complete the Google Volunteer Form, the Volunteer form on this website, or contact us at [email protected]. You can organize a food drive in your neighborhood or workplace! Monetary donations are tax deductible - see if your employer does a company match for donations. Businesses can become a sponsor by donating $2,500 or more. Your company's logo will be added to our website and Facebook page as advertising for you!
